Qingdao Yilida Packaging Co., Ltd. can supply high-performance Wax-Impregnated Waterproof Cardboard Box like Wax Corrugated Cartons and Wax Coated Fruit Cartons. The wax used for the cartons is classified according to the performance of the products required by the customers. It can use food-grade paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax and plant degradable wax. The wax coating per kilogram can be flexibly processed according to the customer's requirements. The waterproof wax-coated cartons mostly adopt the improved production methods of full immersion, semi-immersion and local point immersion wax coating.
Our company's full range of wax-coated cartons can be classified according to five dimensions: wax coating coverage range, production process, wax material, corrugated board structure and application industry.
Full immersion, semi-immersion or localized point waxing are the waterproof waxing processes for corrugated cartons. According to the extent of wax penetration and coverage on the surface of the carton board, they directly determine the waterproof and oil-resistant grades of the cartons. The differences lie in the wax coverage range, waterproof grade, cost, and they are mostly used for seafood, frozen products, cold chain, and humid export packaging.
The fully immersed waxed carton completely immerses all six inner and outer surfaces of the corrugated cardboard box into a high-temperature wax pool. The surface layer, the corrugated core, and the inner layer are all fully saturated with paraffin wax, forming a fully enclosed and waterproof structure for the entire box. The wax penetration depth is the deepest and the protection is the most thorough.
Core advantages
This waxed carton has the highest waterproof rating and can be exposed to ice water, condensation water, and rainwater splashes for a long time. It can effectively protect the products even on rainy days. Moreover, in high-humidity maritime transportation and long-term stacking in cold storage, the carton is less likely to become soft, delaminate, or collapse, and has the strongest compressive stability.
A semi-immersed wax paper box refers to a type of paper box that only undergoes waxing on the specified surface of the customer. It only performs waterproof waxing on the key moisture-prone surfaces, or only sprays wax or uses curtain-style coating on the inner or outer walls of the paper box. While maintaining a certain moisture-proofing ability, it also takes into account the printing aesthetics of the paper box. It is commonly used for short-term refrigerated transportation of vegetables and fruits.
Core Advantages
The moisture-proof and waterproof level of a semi-immersed wax paper box is slightly lower than that of a fully immersed wax paper box. It can prevent water accumulation on the ground, water seepage from the goods inside, and bottom moisture re-entrainment. The wax loss is approximately half of that of a fully immersed one, and the cost is also lower. If the products are not placed in rainy days, this choice offers higher cost-effectiveness and can effectively control costs.
Immerse the designated surface with wax, while keeping the other surfaces as they are. This results in better air permeability and a more complete and clear outer packaging printing.
Partially dipped wax-coated cartons do not immerse the entire surface of the cardboard. Instead, wax is only applied to the weak points that are prone to absorbing water, such as the corners of the carton, crease joints, the plug opening of the swing lid, cracks caused by collision on the carton body, the ends of the paper tube, and other high-risk areas prone to water seepage, as well as the designated positions by the customer. The remaining un-designated areas remain as the original paper.
Core Advantages
This solution uses the least amount of wax and has the lowest cost among the three processes. It can maximize the retention of the carton's printing, breathability, and original feel. It specifically repairs the weak points prone to water seepage, addressing the common problem of carton corners getting damp and deteriorating.

Wax-coated waterproof cartons are mainly used for fresh food and cold chain transportation. They can also be selected for long-distance sea transportation. During the transportation process, if the temperature is low, ordinary cartons will become brittle at -15℃ and will not be able to effectively carry the goods and provide protection. However, our wax-coated cartons can still remain in normal condition even at -40℃. Thus, it can be seen that it has significant advantages.
In addition, all the materials used by Yilida are food-grade and can directly come into contact with various products such as fruits, vegetables, meat and seafood, which comply with relevant international safety standards.
The food-grade waxing carton is a green and environmentally friendly packaging material that can directly come into contact with drinking water and fresh food ingredients. It is widely used in municipal fresh food distribution, cold storage storage, and ice-cold meat packaging.
The entire waxing process combined with salt-resistant modified wax makes the box lightweight, wear-resistant, and with a smooth inner wall. It perfectly replaces ordinary paper boxes; the ends of the box can be equipped with matching protective corners, making it less prone to damage during ocean transportation and handling.
The semi-waxing model is the mainstream choice for agricultural fresh produce. The single-sided waxing prevents condensation water from forming on the produce, and the non-waxed surface retains the air permeability space, avoiding the spoilage of fruits and vegetables due to being compressed. At the same time, the cardboard itself has anti-UV and weather-resistant properties, and it is not prone to aging when stored outdoors for a short period of time. It is the top choice for cost-effectiveness in fruit and vegetable wholesale.

Wax-coated cardboard boxes can replace galvanized iron boxes, ordinary laminated cardboard boxes and conventional corrugated cardboard boxes for packaging water-containing products. They have outstanding comprehensive competitive advantages. The product uses food-grade paraffin raw materials, which are safe, non-toxic, and free of heavy metals. They can directly be used for packaging fresh food, drinking water, etc. The surface wax film has an inert structure and is resistant to acid and alkali, as well as corrosion from seawater and salt water. It is suitable for long-term use in salted aquatic product processing and coastal humid storage environments.
The inner walls of the boxes are smooth and have low friction, which can reduce the impact and wear of goods. They are lighter in weight and have excellent performance in stacking and pressure-bearing. The black wax-coated cardboard type adds 2%–2.5% carbon black components, which have anti-aging and anti-ultraviolet properties. They can be stored outdoors for a long time under sunlight exposure and meet the moisture protection requirements for outdoor storage and open-air turnover in one step.
Our factory offers a complete product line of waxed cardboard boxes like Wax Coated Vegetable Cartons, cardboard box protective corners, and sealing accessories. We can provide all the packaging materials in one package according to customer needs. We can also provide different packaging solutions based on customer requirements to fully protect the customer's products.
Solution A:
High-end protection for seafood/frozen products
The waxed cardboard box contains PE waterproof inner film bags and absorbent pads. The absorbent pads are used to absorb melted ice water. Seafood products/frozen products are packed separately in plastic bags and ice packs are placed inside to prevent the products from melting too quickly.
When sealing the box, use waterproof tape to fully seal the box seams and block the water leakage channels. After sealing the box, reinforce the outer packaging, use protective corners to support the box body, and tie with packing straps to prevent the box from swelling and opening due to stacking.
Solution B:
Economical combination for fresh fruits and vegetables
The box is lined with breathable and perforated fresh-keeping bags to prevent condensation. The box body is reserved with suitable ventilation holes to avoid moisture accumulation and rot. It is suitable for short-distance cold chain and regular storage for fresh fruits and vegetables, and only requires ordinary tape to seal the box, with outstanding cost-effectiveness.
Option C:
Simple Moisture Protection for General Dry Goods
Only an internal moisture-proof PE film liner, simple box sealing, meets basic warehouse moisture protection requirements
All wax-coated paper boxes produced by our factory are made from brand-new food-grade raw pulp and compliant paraffin materials. The paraffin materials are sourced from globally renowned manufacturers. Each batch of raw materials can provide an original factory material quality inspection report to ensure compliance.
Each batch of incoming raw materials is sampled for laboratory testing. Only those that pass the test and issue a quality inspection report can be put into production; any unqualified raw materials will be directly returned to the supplier, and strict control is exercised over the quality of the finished products.
